By Russell Ben-Ali, The Star-Ledger

Article Excerpts:
Sen. John McCain stopped at Liberty State Park today to tout his record on the environment
and global climate change.
"I am proud of my record on the environment," said McCain, speaking to several dozen
reporters at the park in Jersey City.
Flanked by Sen. Joseph Lieberman and former Gov. Tom Kean, the Republican presidential
hopeful said he was pushing environmental issues in Washington long before his Democratic
rivals, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen, Hillary Clinton.
Kean compared McCain's record to that of Teddy Roosevelt. Lieberman credited him for
tackling climate change and preserving million of pristine acres in his home state of
Arizona.
Democrats, meanwhile, accused McCain of embellishing his environmental efforts. . . .
McCain was scheduled to head to Sandy Hook National Park, but a forecast of heavy rain and
winds forced his campaign to make other arrangements.
